“Real Housewives of Potomac” Star Karen Huger convicted in DUI case after car crash.

  • Karen Huger of The Real Housewives of Potomac has received the verdict in her DUI trial, nearly nine months after her car accident in Maryland.

  • At 61, Huger was convicted on most charges, excluding reckless driving, her representative confirmed to People on Wednesday, December 18. She is set to face sentencing on January 29.

  • Huger’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment in the jury’s verdict but stated, “While we are disappointed with the outcome, we respect the jury’s decision and are grateful for their time in reviewing our case.” Bolden added, “We maintain Mrs. Huger’s right to appeal and will continue to seek justice on her behalf. We are thankful for the support and prayers extended to Mrs. Huger and her family during this time.”

  • In March, Huger was involved in a car accident in Potomac, Maryland. According to the Montgomery County Police, she was driving her 2017 Maserati “aggressively” when she collided with a crosswalk sign and a parking sign at an intersection. While she was not arrested at the scene, she was issued several citations by the police. Later, she was charged with DUI and DWI.

  • After the accident, Huger shared a heartfelt statement about her emotional state leading up to the crash.

  • “Thank you all for your prayers and support during this terrifying experience,” she said in March. “I’m still in shock from what happened, but I’m incredibly grateful to be alive. Since the passing of my beloved mother, the grief has come in waves, and with Mother’s Day approaching, it feels overwhelming.” She explained to TMZ that she had met a friend for dinner and discussed some very emotional topics, which led to her crying on her way home. “As I was driving, I saw a car coming right toward me, and I swerved to avoid a head-on crash. I hit the divider and then a tree. I’m hurt and bruised, but so thankful to be alive!”

  • Huger also expressed shock that the car that nearly hit her simply drove away after the incident. “I received several citations, one of which wasn’t related to the crash, which makes sense,” she said. “But what was most surprising was that the car that almost collided with me just kept going!”

  • She ended her statement by emphasizing the importance of emotional awareness while driving. “It’s crucial to understand your emotional state when you’re behind the wheel, and this is a reminder for everyone to wear their seatbelts. My mother may be my guardian angel, but the seatbelt is what saved my life.”
